Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

Reports to:
Supervising Physician and/or Medical Director
Essential Duties:
  • Patient Care
    • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and patient histories
    • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
    • Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications as appropriate
    • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays
    • Provide preventive care, including immunizations, screenings, and health counseling
    • Manage chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and asthma
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
    • Coordinate with specialists and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
    • Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Patient Education
    • Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, preventive care, and healthy lifestyle choices.
    • Provide counseling on diet, exercise, and other lifestyle changes to promote wellness and manage chronic conditions.
  • Administrative Duties
    • Document patient encounters, histories, treatment plans, and progress notes in electronic medical records (EMR) accurately and timely.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of patient care policies and procedures.
    • Participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and stay current with medical practices.

Education and/or Work Experience:
    • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner program.
    • Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner.
    • Must have a current DEA registration
    • BLS/ACLS certification required.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in family medicine or primary care preferred.
    • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
    • Must be able to work on site during assigned clinical hours
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able to lift and carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs
    • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly in person and on the telephone.
